Our latest film, Treacle, world premiered this week at BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+ Film Festival - BFI Southbank.

Mini Productions presents in association with AZ Film Studios, Paper Ball Pictures and Cat Dragged In Films the BAFTA Qualifying film, Treacle

When friends Belle and Jessie go away for the weekend and drunkenly hook up; what seems like an awkward slip up to firmly heterosexual Jessie, is in fact an incredible betrayal to bisexual Belle.

Directed by the award winning Rosie Westhoff who’s previous short Crush premiered at BFI Flare in March 2017 and was then selected as part of the British Council’s #FiveFilms4Freedom. This saw the film screen in over 190 countries around the world and be officially selected into, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Encounters Short Film Festival, Underwire Festival, London Short Festival Film, TIFF Kids and more. Crush is now available online having accumulated over 135,000 views to date.

Treacle is the writing debut for Mini Productions’ award-winning actor and producer April Kelley and explores her own experiences as a bisexual woman. The film aims to shine a light on the lack of visibility for bisexuals who only receive 1% of LGBTQIA funding worldwide each year. April also stars alongside the born and bred New Yorker, Ariana Anderson.

In collaboration with the Bisexual Resource Center, the film supports the notion that bisexuality isn’t just a phase or an experiment nor is the ‘B’ there to just help the acronym roll off the tongue. We hear you & we see you! This is one of our stories.

Executively produced in the UK by James Dean, an award-winning short film and feature film producer (Discoverdale, Best International Film, Galway Fleadh 2013), as well as the producer of This Is Jinsy, Sky One’s Living the Dream, ITV’s Liar and more.

Over in the USA the film was executively produced by Zeus Zamani of AZ Film Studios whose 10 years of diverse experience in the industry has earned him over 400 music videos credits for superstar artists such as Drake, Enrique Iglesias, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, along with MTV Music Video award nominations and worldwide theatrical film success with the likes of Battlefield America and No Vacancy (LionsGate). It was produced by Katie Rotolo of Paper Ball Pictures, whose work consists of producing Anna Akana’s (Bailey and Darla, Go Back to China) work such as When I Wanted to Die which has gone on to have over 2 million views online; Trumped starring Mimi Kennedy (Midnight in ParisMomDharma & Greg) and Lara Everly (2 Broke GirlsThat 70’s Show) has over 1.2 million online views. Henry Kittredge also came on board to produce who is the creative executive at Liza Chasin’s company 3Dot Productions. Prior to that, Henry worked in the LA office of London-based production company Working Title Films. There he worked on tv shows and films such as Netflix’s Gypsy, the award-winning and critically-acclaimed film Darkest Hour and Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver to name but a few.
